Iis File Caching Problem
Hi everyone, I have a cache problem with IIS 6 over SSL (this problem doesn't occur with IIS 5 over SSL, nor does it occur with IIS 6 over regular HTTP). The problem is that for some unexplained reason, IIS 6 over SSL returns to the client the following Cache-Control header for my.js include files (I did not change any IIS settings - I took the default settings): Cache-Control: max-age=315360000, proxy-revalidate, s-max-age=0 What this means is if I update the Javascript files, the browser (client) won't see the changes if he has previously viewed the site. Again, this only happens for the.js files;.aspx files work fine.
This only occurs in HTTPS, not HTTP. I've read about some tricks some have gone through to solve a similar problem to this, such renaming the.js files with a version #, or appending a unique query string. I don't like these approaches because caching would be completely lost. Other approaches include writing an.aspx page to intercept resource files so the code-behind can insert cache control headers, or going into IIS Admin and insert a 'cache-control: max-age=0' header.
I suspect that you have enabled output caching, this would exhibit the behaviour that you are describing where recycling the app pool or restarting IIS clears them and allows you to see the new content.
These are extra work, so I'm looking for a no-code or manual configuration solution if there is one. What is the 'best practices' way of handling this? Anyone know why IIS 6 behaves this way in HTTPS mode? Thanks in advance for your input! I am running Win2k3 with IIS6.
I installed the.Net 3 package and SP 1. In IIS only 1.1 and 2.0 are visible in the ASP.NET tab dropdown. I did reboot the machine but 3.0 is still not visible. Did I miss a step on the install of 3.0? Please advise, TRU No you did not.Net framework 3.0 and.Net framework 3.5 add to features to the.net framework 2.0.

In iis manager you will only see the option to use asp.net 2.0. If.net 3.0 or 3.5 you can use the features in an asp.net 2.0 websiteSilverlight-helpVb TipsSpace Coast.Net User Group Ahhh! I tried deploying my ASP.NET 3.5 web application to the web server but I get an error that Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY NETWORK SERVICE'.
This happens on all of the pages that need to connect to the database. I use Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2008. When I add this user using SQL Server Management Studio, it does work only when I set this user to be the owner of the database.
Setting just read and write permissions are not enough when stored procedures need to be executed. My question is, is it safe to grant owner permissions to NT AUTHORITY NETWORK SERVICE and should I. Hi, In one of my Asp.Net 2.0 application i have to retrieve the data from other server which is using the SSL Client certificates to authenticate. To accomplish this i have used the HttpWebRequest and pass the SSL Certificate to it, and it works fine while running the project from the Visual Studio every thing works fine but when we deploy the site to the IIS, it starts giving the error and returns the 'The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.'
