Have installed Windows 8 successfully on an ACER Aspire One (1GB RAM, 1.6GHZ processor); everything works great except the display resolution when I am running natively on the Aspire. The Aspire display driver as it is configured now only supports 1024/600 resolution. If I plug in an external monitor that supports resolution higher that 1024/768, everything works perfect including the display on the Aspire (in other words I can see the display on both the monitor and the Aspire with no issues, the display on the Aspire with an external monitor plugged in is super clear.) But when I unplug the external monitor and try to run Win8 on the Aspire, I get an error message telling me nothing will run because the display adapter resolution is lower than recommended level, etc.

With an external monitor plugged in, the display on the actual Aspire is perfect; without an monitor plugged in I cannot get anything under Windows 8 to run. Is this simply a Driver upgrade issue? If it was a hardware limitation, you would think the display on the Aspire would never function, but it works perfect only when an external Monitor is plugged in.

The issue is that it works perfectly if I start up with an external monitor attached; even the display on the Acer is perfect, clear as a bell. But if I start up without the external monitor attached, the display defaults to 1024/600 which is under the recommended minimum resolution, so nothing will start. Figured out that we need a new display driver that will allow resolution higher than 1024/600 on my graphic card OR simply use Windows 8 with an external monitor attached (which is not very clean).
